Rajani Mani

Rajani is an Indian filmmaker who blends science with heartfelt narratives about people and nature, bringing a feminist perspective to conservation storytelling. Her latest documentary, Colonies In Conflict (2022), distributed by ZDF Studios GmbH, premiered at Wildlife Film Festival Rotterdam, winning the Best Independent Production. It also received the Southern Lights Award at Silbersalz Science & Media Festival, Jury Award for Natural History at the Nature In Focus Film Festival and was a Finalist at the Jackson Wild Media Awards. 

Rajani’s acclaimed films, In God's Own Country and Miles to Go, highlight industrial contamination and its impact on human health. Her films have featured on platforms such as Al Jazeera, Doordarshan (India's Public Service Broadcaster) and more recently FTV Prima Spol, and ARTE France.

 

Rajani has a Master’s degree in filmmaking from MCRC, Jamia Millia Islamia. She is the co-founder of Elephant Corridor Films a south-India based media agency dedicated to covering underreported green stories. Rajani is an Earthbound/100 Impact fellow and cohort of WOMEN MAKE MOVIES and BITCHITRA COLLECTIVE.

 

She divides her time between Bangalore - where she lives with her husband, daughter and an old dog - and Kochi, where she has her roots.
